Day 51...Wednesday, September 3, 2008...Shannon Joins the Trip...Another Quiet Day in Portland

My friend, Shannon, decided to fly out and join my travels for a week or so. I picked her up at the airport in Portland this morning, and we stopped for another great lunch at the restaurant, Veritable Quandry.
I spent the afternoon catching up on some travel planning and repacking before we went out for an early dinner at Pete's Gourmet Pizza. Pete's was originally just a bakery, but their pizza became so popular that they opened a restaurant. The pizza was everything they said it was...thin, crunchy, chewy crust...flavorful sauce and lots of cheese. It was no wonder that the place was jammed with people waiting for tables.
Tomorrow, we're starting the trip to Washington wine country in Walla Walla. We'll be following the Columbia River Gorge as far as Hood River, Oregon.
