"The Way West"...Day 54...Sunday, August 5, 2012

A very laid-back day today.
As has become my custom, I sleep late this morning...up at 8:00AM to make a pot of coffee.
I get on the Internet...blog posts, email cleanup, Mom's bills. Tom calls around 10:00AM to say that he's got some errands to run...he'll pick me up around 1:00PM.
After Tom Comes to pick me up, we stop for a few quick tacos before heading over to his house. Tom is kind enough to let me do a few loads of laundry while I'm there.
While the laundry is going, Tom and I get into the Maker's Mark around 3:30PM.By 5:00PM, the laundry is done...and so are Tom and me...pretty much.
We take a cab over to the Peppermill Casino where Tom is a "Diamond Member". We stop at the VIP Room for a few complimentary cocktails (probably a mistake) before heading up to the Bimini Restaurant. Tom brought me here two years ago, and I had one of the best pieces of Prime Rib ever...so that's what I'm having tonight. Bimini has a great "End of Bin" wine list of odds and ends at very discounted prices. So...I'm able to get a bottle of 2005 Nickel & Nickel Cab for a song.
Tom and I are, both, loud by nature in our conversation...adding a few cocktails is like cranking up the volume knob for us. So, after a while, I notice that a big burly security guy has taken up position just a few feet from our table. He doesn't "do" anything except stand there and, occasionally, walk over to our table to ask how we're doing.
It's a long dinner as I fight through a big Caesar salad, the Prime Rib, creamed spinach and, finally coffee and ice cream for dessert.
After dinner, we take a cab...me to m

y hotel, and Tom to his home.
I know that I'll sleep well tonight.
