Day 26...A Break in the Weather!

We were up early at the Crow's Nest and were surprised to see...blue sky! We immediately headed over to Denali Park and drove as far as allowed (15 miles)to the hiking trail at Savage River. We were able to hike for more than two hours surrounded by spectacular scenery and some small, but cute, wildlife. This was an awesome experience...when I began planning my Alaska trip months ago, it was the thought of hiking in Denali that excited me the most.
After that great hike, we booked a camping sight at the Riley Creek Campground inside of the Park. Weather was decent...a little rain mist at times...and we pitched our tents late in the afternoon. For dinner, we grilled some steaks and whipped up some pan-fried new potatoes...washed down with a Chilean Carmenere...a better meal we could not have had.
We purchased bus tickets for tomorrow that will take us 53 miles inside the Park to the Toklat River area where there is some spectacular hiking...we're just hoping for some decent weather.
