Camping Out West...Day 45...Saturday, July 31, 2010...Visiting With Shannon

We're all up early this morning (me "regular schedule", everybody else "time change").
Ed and I head out in search of coffee...just about everything is closed this early, but we find a Denny's. Later, Molly runs out to pick up something more substantial for breakfast.
Around 10:00AM, Ed and I pack up and head off in the Escape to visit his daughter, Shannon. It's a 120 mile drive up from Hemet up past LA to the town of Stevenson Ranch. It's California...so...even though it's a Saturday, there's plenty of traffic.
A little before 11:00, we're at Shannon's to visit her, her husband (David) and daughter (Ava).
It's a comfortable home...warm, friendly...stable. Soon, we're relaxing with a few beers and planning out the next few days. Shannon makes some great pita "pizzas" while we consider our options...Zoo, Getty Museum, Beach, Dodgers game...decisions, decisions.
Sitting outside, as the sun sets behind the hills, it's about as comfortable an evening as I could imagine. Shannon whips up a batch of Greek chicken with hummus, tortillas and plenty of fresh vegetables...great...and healthy!
Ava is a little sweetheart...a beautiful little two year old.
Our plans are set...at least for tomorrow. We're going to Venice Beach for the day...excellent!
